where is home

Jul 31, 2007   //   by zeroseven   //   philosophy  //  No Comments

Everybody tells you to feel at home when you visit them
Some say there is no place like home
But exactly what is home?
Lovers tell each other: Your home is in my heart" when love is good
But say: "This house is no longer a home for me" when they quarrel
Some say home is where the heart is
Where exactly is this home?
I feel at home when I am in the toilet, says John
I feel at home when I am in my bedroom, says Julia
I feel at home when I'm with my friends, says Neli
What is this home?
Home is place where you feel good, says a friend
So go find your own home then and make sure you stay there

Give a dog a bone
live the dog alone
let the dog roam
and he'll find his way home
home of the brave
his home is a cage
he'll be a slave
till his home is a grave

my door and key

Jul 31, 2007   //   by mankwe   //   kindness  //  No Comments

You are the door of my life and
I adore you,
Without even knocking so hard,
In the globe of peace and warmth,
I felt so well than warm,
All I saw was darkest cloud lying
around me,
There was no other shelter than you.

you serve my daily smile right,
For you called me from my sleeping blanket,
Where loneliness was my smile to mile the day,
then  drove me into holiness home.

I saw brightest lights switching on,
But rather than smiling, I miled with a cry,
I felt more than warm,
I felt more than well,
I felt more than welcomed
And around me revolved the largest world than all

You are the key of my life,
For you let come from miles,
And made my entrance so warm than easy,
So that I would come in to see what you saw,
And kept me warm from south and warm to south
Just like the palace lifelike.

Mom, you are the door of my life and

For the chair you let me sit on,
I am now cherished,
For the coolest coffee you let me drink,
I am now drunk,
Drunk by the joy of life,
yet on top of my daily smile,
my dates would have none besides you.
my feelings would choose none but joy,
All from choice that you came up to,
And made me choose no death from life

The Politician

Jul 27, 2007   //   by jamesretired   //   politics  //  No Comments

Integrity, integrity, what happened to integrity
A word that means a lot, to only them that’s got
It’s not meant just for the few, but something that M.P.’s should do
Not just for the Government entrants, but also for the Civil Servants
Remember that the countries coffers, are not up for the highest offers
To be in office you must assure, to take what is only yours
Remember that you’ll have to beg, if you kill the goose with golden egg

Hypocrisy, hypocrisy, what happened to hypocrisy
A word that means what others do, does not apply to you
The ones that often point the finger, are rated as the best singer
And just as in the times that past, the hypocrite is here to last
The Bard he summed up the lot, when he told it to the Scot
The only gift God didn’t gee us, is to see ourselves as others see us

Ability, ability what happened to ability
A word that means you knew, just exactly what to do
No one can claim to know it all, he who does heads for a fall
The wheels of time turn very slowly, not just for the good and holy
The thing is look before you leap, then your guaranteed to keep your seat
It’s hard at first to live and learn, not so bad when you see what you earn

Liability, liability, what happened to liability
A word that means you’ve been caught, doing what you shouldn’t aught
Hard luck if you play that game, you’ve lost your place in the hall of fame
To try and brazen out the shame, will only advertise the blame
To start with your friends will rally round, then slowly go underground
So when down hearted, feeling sick, you will wish you’d faced the music

Security, security, what happened to security
A word that makes you think; of robbing, drugs, rape and drink
Where shooting to kill from them that’s bent, is common to a stealing event
The police they try there best to contain, but stop the crime they try in vain
But who wants to be part of the West, here in Africa is still the best
The sea and sun are free of tax, and the beaches are there to relax

Hilarity, hilarity, what happened to hilarity
A word that conjures up for everyone, love and laughter and some fun
Lives not doom and gloom for parity, there’s room there for hilarity
There’s time to kill the fatted calf, to dance and sing and have a laugh
The economy is good and strong, so share the winnings with the throng
Bring the beer, whiskey and rum; make sure there’s enough for everyone.

how DO i love thee?

Jul 25, 2007   //   by jeanne smith   //   love  //  No Comments

Its a familiarity that with skilful subtlety
Flakes away at the hostility of my weary days
Lifting the weight of self inflicted pessimistic beliefs.
Not the intimacy of raging lovers
Who’s inflated veins ooze their fiery newly found infatuation
Taking them from sullen earth to between crisp imminent sheets.

Its veteran hearts speaking of the letting go’s
Of the holding on’s, of the years we’d like to forget
And of the dreams we’d kill to attain.
Not the whisperings of oh-so-sweet NOTHINGS,
Of thin promises that are worn out by mere time
And elaborate declarations of unconditional love.

Its a charming comfort that allows me sing out loud,
scoff down a messy meal, pitifully slumber in my own revolting dribble
And wooze through my swollen-faced mornings.
Not a ‘first date’ ambiance of sensual smelling necks
Trembling soft lips, thoughtfully placed hands
And deadly locking of animated eyes….

The kind of love that wants to hold you close – not to hold you down.
The kind of love that wants to shield you -  not to stand in your way.
The kind of love that feeds your soul – not demand your heart.
The kind of love that knows when to take a step forward
And surely, when to walk away.

My Mother

Jul 23, 2007   //   by Olwam   //   history  //  No Comments

For many years different men have abused you,
But you forgave no matter what you went through,
For years tears have run down your face and blood down your body,
But you chose to look after everybody.

For years you’ve seen other peoples suffering whilst ignoring your own,
You deserve to be treated with respect and that should be known,
For many years battles have been fought over and for you,
Now it’s a different kind of war as they sit there talking.

For years you’ve watched as your children lost their way,
For years you stood there without a word to say,
They mutilated and tormented your body without thinking twice,
But you continue to support us with all your might.

I just want to say how much I love you,
I shall forever love and cherish you,
No matter you’ll always be my mother,
I love you no matter what MY SOUTH AFRICA

Friends

She is the definition of beautiful,
She makes my hormones go insane
She the fair skinned, caramel type
So you can imagine the hype
Of guys dropping jaws,
and as she walks past they pause,
They, crave you not only to have you
But i to hold you,
because with me its different from other guys,
I'm taken for a friend
The torture of having to pretend
to stand close to those seductive lips
to be lost in your eyes like an un-Captained ship
To have your open arms around me
to feel your heart beat
To let our souls meet
In a world of you and I,
but the cookie crumbles when i realise
that we can't be,
I just fantasised

Today is yesterday

Jul 20, 2007   //   by ray-mase   //   inspirational  //  No Comments

Today is yesterday
I shall let the past be bygones
And let the previous inspire my future

Today is yesterday
When I shall extract precious…
…within matrix of disappointments

Today is yesterday
Because yesterday my heart was full of sorrow
But today I rejoice for tomorrow

Today is yesterday
Without Almighty, I was short and saw darkness
But today, the Lord rise me up to see lightness

Today is yesterday…
…yesterday, when all seemed lost
Today, with faith all shall be regained

Today is yesterday
Even during the uncertainty of yesterdays
Today I hear a voice that says to me
…never be afraid to fall
Because you will never lose it all

"Dance of Death" (a macabre)

Jul 19, 2007   //   by Melody   //   social commentaries  //  No Comments

Unchain the beasts.
Unlock the Demons.

Let them come out to play.
Let them come alive.
Let them be free.
Let me do the "dance of death"

So I can be separated from the living, as I wait for the Devil to rise,
and dance around me. Begging me to come along.
