(Intro: Sometimes I wonder what my heart beats for?
And though my mind is contemplating even hoping that it would stop, it doesn’t)

Though my mind’s judgement is clouded by my insecurities, fear and feelings of unworthiness
My heart beats on…
It beats with faith it beats for hope
My mind looks at the world, the media and then compares me to it
But my heart beats on…
For the day that I can fully accept and love myself regardless of circumstance, regardless of appearance
Even though my mind thinks I’ m the only one who smiles with an aching soul
My heart beats on…
It beats for the homeless children, those who are not alone yet lonely, the silent cries of the addicted, those filled with affliction, those whose words and ways start to form a contradiction
But my mind thinks that the world and its people will never really change
My heart beats on….
For the day we will live beyond our own potential and abilities
