Naissance

I yearn for you, my child, my deepest desire.
My belly lays empty waiting for you to come.
See: My perfect nest to keep you close to me
My breasts tender and nipples perked to nourish you.

I stare in wonder, with anticipation
At my naked reflection…Will you one day be here too?
Coddled in your mummy’s nest, bound to me as you grow
From a twinkle in my eye, to the valley that is my soul.

I wait with bated breath to see the colour of your eyes
The shape of your nose & the quirkiness of your smile
Will you have your mum’s dimples or her kinky mane?
Will you have your dad’s dishiness or his impossibleness?

And what will I name you, oh perfect conception?
My gorgeous creation, needless to say!
I will name your after tenderness, after greatness
After lovingness and after fortitude.

Bring on the distressing months of swollen ankles
Queezy  mornings, aching evenings & bizarre cravings
Bring on the widening hips, swollen lips & stretching tum
Come & rest in my womb & bless me with your spirit.
