Technology driven global supermarket

What has shrunk this global village into the tiny ball that it is?
What has hit it with such detonation?
Potentially locked in the grips of a danger, superpower,
controlling all corners of earths civilisation.
Technology, my earthly, techno junkie, locked in neighbour!

Prisoners robbed of privacy by the mobile industry.
Consider this city dweller, where do you go without your cell?
Nowhere! Ironically named, you tap your pockets hastily.
Imprisoned by the names stored on speed dial,
to whom you must give account,
if you neglect to hit the green button on time,
or answer your voice mail, quickly… it mounts!

And there is this other mail so electronically lightning quick,
shrinking the cable stretched society even smaller.
Everyday technology we thought, so brilliant an invention,
keeps paper shufflers trapped, at their cabled tied desks,
behind access controlled doors.
Memory sticks around their necks.
Opening hundreds of electric junk mail, colourful spam.
Enemy authors, associates, clients, friends, sensitive seniors,
demanding instant feedback, filling the gaping inbox, craving ram.

A wonderful technological breakthrough! except nobody waits.
Meant to speed work up, for longer pleasure hours.
Instead it creates,
more, behind the sluice Gates,
of a million subscribers, a billion letters housed
in the trillions of server strained terra bites,
owned by a few Microsoft-ware giants.

A personal computer once the Apple of the city dweller’s eye,
now networked the earth into complete captivity.
By a shining silver satellite linked beast, hanging in the sky.
Our consumed youths minds totally captivated in this spider web,
of blue teeth and infra red eyed monsters, bodies hands free,
controlling every optic fibre of our mega bite sized lives.
This unsuspecting “wonderful worldwide wireless” website technology.

We only have a few dozen giga years left,
before the chips of technology burn all normality to a crisp,
consuming, filling every last bit of sound displaced space, square and round.
Perhaps then only will we be content, user friendly and more hands free.
Sitting in our air conditioned solar powered robot guarded lounge.
Soaking up slippery soapies on flatter, television sets in “new improved, 3D.”
In  pyjamas, just logged off from the visual virtual boss,  PC networked office.
Utopian prisoners eating faster genetically altered Mac’ nificent generated food.
With a single eye controlled, flat screen click,
flicked from the global internet worked super market..
