Tic, tic Tourette

Jump, twitch, fiddle,
Boundless energy, always moving.
Shake, blurt, twiddle,
“What on earth are you doing?”

Hyperactive, a teachers nightmare
pick me miss! eyelids batter.
“Child, sit in your chair!”
Yak, mutter, chatter.

Hypokinetic!
impulses electric.
Was he born with it?
is it genetic?

A parents struggle.
A sisters battle.
“Look at his pen, click, click, click!”
Tic, utter, stutter,
again stammer, tic.
help, please help.
“I cannot take it!”

Electrons firing, too much spark.
Nerve endings flicker, neurons arc.
“A version perhaps, but you have it
there you go, tic tic.”

It’s  the boys beast, Tourette syndrome.
“Take all your medicine
before you leave home.
Sit down, Calm down,
kill the adrenaline!”

Children have it, one out of three
“No tomato sauce for you!”
Is there a remedy?
Cool drinks red, definitely taboo!
Desperate, she cries; “Can it be treated?”
“Doctor who?”

Scratches and shakes, rapidly blinks,
With ants in his pants,
Cannot keep quiet, never sits still.
wakes up noisily,  cannot sleep in.
Please take your medicine, take that pill,
little wonder drug, magic; “Ritalin.”

“Don’t worry, don’t despair he’s still intelligent”
“Usually a quick sharp mind, make no mistake.”
Mocked, scarred and battered, a youth hard spent,
“Be tolerant, it gets better, learn to wait.”

“This condition dubbed; “ADD”,
will dwindle and shrink surprisingly, smaller,
as he matures and grows bigger, you’ll see”

Until then what is required
is mountains of patience, mothers must get;
Especially when washed out,
down and tired
Tic, tic, tic
for Tourette
